Who are you when you are alone. No one there. By yourself?
Are you the same person who is praising God in the sanctuary? The person friends call up for prayer and advice?
If you take time to speak and listen to God throughout the day, then yes. You are the same inside as out. But if you are going on yesterday’s Bible Promise. Or last week’s Memory Verse, there is every chance that you are pretty much running on empty. Nothing in – Nothing out.
If we are to be ready “in season and out of season” then we have to build up our faith by the reading of the Word. Speaking to God constantly. Listening for His voice telling us when to speak and what to say. It isn’t enough to just desire to grow in grace. It actually takes some determination to spend time meditating upon the word of God and letting the Holy Spirit reveal what it means for you – today.
You can be the same inside as out. God doesn’t condemn us for trying. He is the great encourager! Stay in His word, listen to His voice, sing His praises. You will be the person God has called you to be!
“Let the words from the book of the law be always on your lips. Meditate on them day and night so that you may be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success.”
There is no way that God will reject a Good Person.
Job 8:14-21 (MSG)
They hang their life from one thin thread, they hitch their fate to a spider web. One jiggle and the thread breaks, one jab and the web collapses. Or they’re like weeds springing up in the sunshine, invading the garden, Spreading everywhere, overtaking the flowers, getting a foothold even in the rocks. But when the gardener rips them out by the roots, the garden doesn’t miss them one bit. The sooner the godless are gone, the better; then good plants can grow in their place. There’s no way that God will reject a good person, and there is no way he’ll help a bad one. God will let you laugh again; you’ll raise the roof with shouts of joy.
I bless you with honesty, integrity and trustworthiness in everything, may God be your top priority.
Yesterday was our second visit to the Faith Based Unit at Gatesville Correctional Facility. We went thinking we’d be bringing a lesson and encouragement to the 33 ladies incarcerated there. Boy were we wrong! They are the ones who blessed us and knocked our socks off with their joy, freedom in Spirit, praise and testimonies of God’s goodness and mercy. We go every Wednesday night from 6:30 – 8:30 but they don’t want us to leave and neither do we. We have to tear ourselves away before the guards come and take us out. The peace, joy and unity these women share is inspiring and convicting. They will be discipled for 18 months then are released back into the main prison population in pairs as “missionaries”. Please pray for these women as they grow in the knowledge of God and for our team as we minister acceptance, grace and restoration to them.
“If you decide for God, living a life of God- worship, it follows that you don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.”
